Choosing a scoring app
We used to run a table here telling you what a competitor got wrong. We took it down: we could not evidence it, and a page that needs a rival to be broken is not much of an argument. So here is what to check for yourself, and exactly what Greenbound does about each.

| When handicaps are fixed | If somebody's index changes overnight, does today's round change with it? | Frozen when the round is locked. A later edit applies to the next round, never retrospectively to one being played. |
| Odd numbers | Your field is 4/4/3/3/3. Can the threes and fours play one competition? | Yes — best two to count, any team size, one leaderboard. It also warns you a four gets one more go at it than a three. |
| A wrong score | Who can fix it, how fast, and is the change recorded? | The organiser, from their own phone, in seconds. Every correction is kept — never a silent overwrite. |
| Getting people started | Does everyone need to install something and make an account before the first tee? | No. Scan a QR or open a link, pick your name, start scoring. Installing it is optional. |
| Signed cards | Is there a real signature from the player and their marker, or just a tap? | Both sign with a finger, and a card with an unresolved disagreement on it cannot be signed at all. |
| Price | Per event, per player, per year? What happens to your results if you stop paying? | A game with your mates — 8 players, 2 groups, every format — is free for life, not for a trial. A society is £150 a year for as many days as you run, paid by the organiser. Players never pay either way, and nothing is deleted if you stop. |
